Fossil Nautiloid Egg

These 500 million year old Nautiloids have been fashioned into polished eggs.

Nautiloids are the earliest cephalopods found in the fossil record, an advanced class of mollusks which also includes ammonoids, belemnites and modern coleoids such as octopus and squid. Over two thousand species are known, but only a few survive to this day.
