Got creative kids in Kinder to Grade 10?

We're turning local children's artwork into birthday cards to be sold in-store and online โ€“ with royalties paid to the young artists whose artwork is selected.

๐ŸŽจ Calling all creative kids!

Design a birthday card and see your artwork come to life. Winning entries will be printed and sold in-store and online as part of our birthday card range.

  • ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Name credited on the card (optional โ€“ parents can opt out)
  • ๐Ÿ’ธ 3% royalty paid on all card sales featuring their artwork
  • ๐ŸŽˆ Recognition in-store and on our website/socials (again, with parent's permission)
  • ๐ŸŽ‰ Launch event in-store to celebrate their work

๐Ÿง’ Who can enter

  • Students from Kinder to Grade 10
  • Must live or go to school locally (list of 'local' below)
  • Parental/guardian permission required

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ What to create

  • Portrait-oriented artwork for the front of an A6 card (can be created on standard A4 paper)
  • Clearly feature the age number (e.g. "4", "13")
  • Artwork must be original and birthday-themed for each age 1 to 15 (can create artwork for all 15 if they like!)
  • Hand-drawn or digital โ€“ but no AI or copyrighted characters
  • All artwork must be created solely by the child
  • Create final in high-quality JPG, PNG or PDF

๐Ÿ“„ What youโ€™ll need to submit

  • Your childโ€™s artwork (JPG, PNG or PDF)
  • Entry form with the child's and parent/guardian details and:
    • confirmation the work is original and created by the child
    • parental consent to enter the competition and be contacted
    • parental consent to publish the child's first name, or not
    • agreement to the Terms & Conditions

๐Ÿ“ฅ How to enter

Select one of the following methods to submit artwork:

  2. Email entries and submission form to shop@helloyoungster.com.au
  3. Drop off at Hello Youngster, 103 Victoria Ave, Albert Park

All entries must include parent/guardian consent via the online form or if entering by email or in-store, with a signed submission form. If not using the online form, the submission form and FAQs and Terms and Conditions can be downloaded. Printed submission forms are also available in-store. 

Deadline: Entries must be received by 3pm Sunday 20 April 2025. If submitting via the online entry form, please allow time for upload and aim to be completed by 2.30pm.

  • Who can enter?
    Kids in Kinder to Grade 10 who live or attend school locally.
  • What kind of artwork are you looking for?
    Joyful, bold birthday designs that feature the age number and feel fun and celebratory โ€“ with no words or licensed content.
  • Can my child submit more than one design?
    Yes โ€“ one design per age number (up to 15 artworks).
  • Can the artwork be created with digital tools?
    Yes โ€“ the child can use whichever tools they are comfortable with. Just ensure itโ€™s the childโ€™s original creation.
  • What format should the artwork be?
    Portrait layout, high-quality JPG, PNG or PDF. No template required.
  • Do we need to sign a form?
    The online form includes all permissions. For email or in-person entries, a signed form is required.
  • Will my childโ€™s name be made public?
    Only if you give permission. During submission you'll be able to choose if your child's first name is included on the card and whether their first name can be used in our promotion of the winner/s and cards. 
  • How do royalties work?
    If your child's artwork is selected, they will be paid a 3% royalty on the retail price of the sale of each of the cards bearing their artwork. Royalties will be paid to the nominated account quarterly, along with a sales summary. 
  • How are winners selected?
    Based on judging criteria published below, plus suitability for print. We may select multiple winners per age group submitting and/or ages shown on the cards. We may also choose none if no entries are deemed suitable. 
  • When will winners be announced?
    Monday 28 April 2025 via email and our social media.

  • Creativity and originality โ€“ unique style, imagination
  • Visual appeal โ€“ use of colour, composition, impact
  • Clarity of age number โ€“ easily visible, readable
  • Suitability for greeting card โ€“ joyful, age-appropriate
  • Technique and execution โ€“ intentional and finished look
  • Childโ€™s effort (relative to age) โ€“ thought and effort shown

Note: AI-generated or adult-created work will not be accepted.

To be eligible, your child must live or attend school in one of the following postcodes:
