Community partnerships - schools and kinders

As new members of this local community, we are very keen to support local schools, kinders, playgroups, childcare and other child spaces. We're very collaborative so will work with you to create a package of support that we are able to provide and that works best for you - along with some of our new ideas and energy!

Below you'll find ways we can contribute through:

  1. Fundraising
  2. Discounts for educational materials and equipment for schools, libraries - all child-based centres
  3. Unique learning - school incursions and in-store activities.

1. Fundraising made simple

We know fundraising is an essential part of modern education and learning, so we hope the options below make it easy for you. Browse the list and select one, some or all or even suggest something new. If it works for all of us, we're happy to jump right in.

Offers per school/kinder/centre

  1. 5% of every purchase goes to you when made by a parent of your school/kinder/centre community.
  2. One annual VIP fundraising event.
  3. Items donated for fundraising events.
  4. 5% of associated sales for ideas you share with us to help grow the store.
  5. Other suggestions you may like to propose - new ideas are always welcome!

Benefits to you

  • Ongoing funds contributed throughout the year.
  • Certainty in being able to ask for support from us.
  • We can provide interesting content for your newsletters - not just ads.
  • Opportunity for your families to find new and easy ways to participate in fundraising.
  • Supporting a local small business. Thank you :)

What we ask in return

Help us spread the word to your community that there is a fabulous children's store in the neighbourhood and that we're doing exciting new things - as well as selling toys!

How each fundraiser works

5% of sales to you: Your parents shop at Hello Youngster and we donate 5% of every purchase to your school/kinder/centre's fundraising pool. Simple :) (Terms and conditions to be published by 28 April 2025). (Thanks to Middle Park Primary for this idea!)

One annual VIP fundraising event: We do all the work, you get all the $$! Over one day or one weekend, we'll run a sale specifically for your families with 15% of sales going back to you. This might tie in with an activity you have planned or may slot into a space where you have a gap. We can collaborate on how this will work and terms and conditions will be shared ahead of each event.

Items donated for fundraising: We will donate up items up to $500 retail per year to each school/kinder/centre for your fundraising activities such as fetes, auctions, raffles. This may increase in future years but while we are getting this business back on track, this is what we can offer.

5% of associated sales: If you have other ideas that will help us to grow the store, and which result directly in sales, we'll donate 5% of each sale back to you for the following six months, or period of time over which the idea operates. We can collaborate on how this will work and terms and conditions will be shared ahead of each idea being implemented.

Other suggestions you have: We love new ideas - email us at shop@helloyoungster.com.au or drop in for a chat.

3. Unique learning

Forget the usual school incursions. Our program focuses on real-world skills that empower students with creativity, entrepreneurship and a project management mindset.

  • Project management for kids: Students learn how to identify the start, middle and end of a project, how to plan and implement  it in a logical sequence . This not only teach invaluable skills for managing secondary and tertiary study but in developing foundational life skills and develops a sound base for employability and life skills. Students will plan and execute a real event, like a school concert or fundraiser.
  • Young entrepreneurs program: Kids learn how to develop, test, build and pitch their own creative or business idea. Aligns with the current Victorian Government's Work Related Skills subject. Ideal for upper primary school to prepare for high school programs and concepts and to prepare them with life skills and foundations to for secure employment and interesting careers.
  • Product development: Students design and prototype a toy or product idea, including real-world testing.

Our workshops are engaging, practical and aligned with both the current curriculum and real-world life and business skills that aren’t typically taught in schools.

Future topics in development include "How to create your own podcast" and "Making sense of the recent federal election".
