What is Sunae?

Sunae (砂絵) is the traditional Japanese art of sand painting, where colorful grains of sand are carefully arranged on an adhesive surface to create intricate, textured illustrations. Unlike painting with a brush, sunae requires precision and patience, making it both a mindful creative process and a vibrant, tactile experience. Naoshi has modernized this centuries-old technique, blending it with her surreal, playful style to create whimsical worlds bursting with color and imagination. Now, with this kit, you can experience the joy of sunae for yourself!
